# Set up product feeds

For the **e-commerce** model, TMN builds content around your own catalog. Your catalog reaches TMN through Content Egg's **Feed module**: you import a product feed once, then point your plan at it.

## Import your catalog

Content Egg's Feed module imports your products from a **product feed** — a CSV or XML file or URL you generate from your store. Most platforms (WooCommerce, Shopify, and others) can export one.

**Skip product variations.** Generate the feed *without* variations, or enable **"Skip product variations during import"** in the feed module — otherwise the same product can appear several times (visual duplicates) in your articles.

**Large catalog?** Split a very large feed into **separate feed modules by product category**, and create a **separate plan per category**. Smaller, focused plans rank better — see [Create a content plan](/building-a-site/create-a-plan.md).

## Use the feed in a plan

When you create an e-commerce plan, select your feed as the **Product source** (in the new-plan wizard, or later on the plan). TMN then:

* sends a **snapshot of your catalog** to the planner, so it understands what you sell while building the Topic Map, and
* searches your feed **locally** for each product article and attaches matching products — see [Curate products](/building-a-site/curate-products.md) for how candidates are chosen and how to preview or edit them.
