# Quick start

### 1. Content Egg Pro **Setup**

{% hint style="success" %}

{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### **Install and Activate Content Egg Pro**

Ensure the [Content Egg Pro](https://www.keywordrush.com/contentegg) plugin is installed and activated.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### **Enable Supported Modules**

Activate at least one of the modules supported by Too Much Niche, such as:

* [Amazon](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/modules/affiliate/amazon)
* [Amazon No API](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/modules/affiliate/amazon-no-api-module)
* [Bol.com](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/modules/affiliate/bolcom)
* [Udemy](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/modules/affiliate/udemy)
* Etsy.com (via [Affiliate Egg integration](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/modules/affiliate-egg-integration#how-to-connect-ae-modules))

  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

### **2. Too Much Niche Setup**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### **Install and Activate the Plugin**

Ensure the Too Much Niche plugin is [installed and activated](/v4/getting-started/installation-and-activation).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### **Review the Manual**

Read through the plugin manual to understand [niche selection strategies](/v4/getting-started/niche-selection).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### **Follow the Setup Wizard**

Use the built-in **wizard** to configure the plugin and start generating articles tailored to your chosen niche.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### 3. Sit back and relax

Please allow the plugin sufficient time to complete its task. On average, generating one article takes **1-3 minutes**. The estimated total time required to generate an entire site depends on the number of articles:

* **30 articles** → **0.5 to 1.5 hours**
* **100 articles** → **1.5 to 5 hours**
* **300 articles** → **5 to 15 hours**

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: "Too Much Niche" automatically uses WP cron for its tasks, so you don't need to change any settings. Even if your website doesn't get much traffic to trigger WP cron, our servers will take care of it by pinging your cron script to keep the plugin running smoothly in the background.
{% endhint %}

After generating and publishing all articles, you can deactivate and remove the Too Much Niche plugin while keeping Content Egg Pro. However, some additional features will no longer be available if you do so.

Step-by-Step Guide to Building Your Etsy Affiliate Website
{% endembed %}

This step-by-step video covers everything from purchasing hosting and installing a theme to generating articles and adding a sitemap to Google Console. While it focuses on the Etsy affiliate program, you can use the same approach for other programs, including Amazon.

# Niche selection

### Product Niche

Your **niche** defines your website’s focus and the types of products you promote. It can be **broad**, like "*Home gym equipment*", or more specific, such as **"***Home gym equipment: dumbbells, treadmills, exercise mat, stability ball*".

{% hint style="success" %}
Your site's niche is the foundation for automatically researching focus keywords for each article.
{% endhint %}

A **detailed format** helps the plugin generate more precise content and refine keyword research:

* *Outdoor and Adventure - Camping, hiking, and survival gear.*
* *Pet Care – Dog training tools, cat toys, and pet grooming kits.*
* *Beauty and Wellness - Skincare, organic cosmetics, and self-care products.*
* *Smart Home Devices - Security cameras, smart lighting, and voice assistants.*

{% hint style="success" %}
The **Too Much Niche** plugin focuses on **product-based content**, making it ideal for affiliate niches.

Choose a **commercially relevant niche** where products are available on **Amazon or other affiliate networks** to maximize earnings and content effectiveness.
{% endhint %}

Avoid **non-product niches** and keywords with limited affiliate opportunities, such as:

* *Celebrity Gossip*
* *Soccer Match Recaps*
* *International Move*
* *Electricity Prices*
* *Coupons and Promo Codes*

### **Multiniche Website**

If you want to generate articles across **multiple niches**, you have two options:

1. **Split generation tasks** – Run a separate **generation task** for each niche individually.
2. **Manual keyword selection** – Choose keywords for each article manually. In this case, the **site niche setting will not be used**.

# Adjust article types and count

{% hint style="warning" %}
By default, all **remaining generation credits** will be **distributed** across different article types. If you prefer **not** to generate all articles at once, manually **configure the number of articles** to generate in the wizard.
{% endhint %}

In the third step of the TMN wizard, after entering your license key and niche, you can adjust the number of articles for each type (roundup, reviews, comparison, info, how-to).&#x20;

This flexibility allows you to **split the generation process into smaller batches** instead of creating all articles at once.

<figure><img src="/files/4J9neXEuexArRV1kwv9u" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Remaining Article Credits**

You can check your **remaining article credits** for each license in your [Keywordrush dashboard](https://www.keywordrush.com/panel). This helps you monitor your usage and plan content generation accordingly.

<figure><img src="/files/qzCDhNeUq23Pya9D23R9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Select keywords manually

### Keyword Selection

Too Much Niche automatically selects optimal keywords for each article based on your [niche](/v4/getting-started/niche-selection).

If you want more control over the generated content, you can:

* **Manually set focus keywords** for each article.
* **Partially define keywords**, allowing the plugin to expand your list and find the rest.

<figure><img src="/files/Wmw4ybT7hkaBsxm1XTed" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Each **keyword** corresponds to **one article**.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

You can use various types of keywords, including:

* **Short-tail keywords** (e.g., *"fitness tracker"*)
* **Long-tail keywords** (e.g., *"best budget fitness tracker for beginners"*)
* **Multiple keywords** (e.g., "*fitness tracker, heart rate monitor, step counter*")

{% hint style="warning" %}

#### **Avoid Duplicate Keywords**

Using duplicate or overly similar keywords can result in articles with repetitive content or overlapping sections. To ensure unique and valuable content, diversify your keyword selection.
{% endhint %}

### **Post Title Selection**

The plugin automatically generates clickable and engaging titles based on the entered keywords and the selected article type.

If you want to set an **exact title** for an article instead of just a **keyword**, enter your desired title in the appropriate field and check the **"Use as Title"** checkbox.

<figure><img src="/files/aY5hzQFwpfPcMC3aLHbZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Keyword Research Tool**

To research product keywords, click the **Keyword tool** button and start typing. An **auto-suggested list** of product keywords will appear. Simply **click** on the keywords you want to add to your list as **article keywords**.

<figure><img src="/files/DfILYEWZkKs8WjhTKsCQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Bulk Keywords Import**

Click the **Import** button to open a popup for bulk keyword import using the **special CSV format**.

<figure><img src="/files/5yQ6w21AcABgtPmMLXtd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/9qUWHIcy9Jxw9WbOorxu" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Download a CSV file example [here](https://www.keywordrush.com/downloads/roundup_keywords_example.csv).
* All CSV fields are **optional**, so the simplest format is a list where **each keyword is on a new line**:

<figure><img src="/files/WEbh1RVeJIRQKCXocxk0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Product Selection**

For greater control over generated content, you can **manually select products** for each article.  For more details, check this guide:&#x20;

{% content-ref url="/pages/7aFGK5wSV7QghVeSqItn" %}
[Select products manually](/v4/advanced-use/select-products)
{% endcontent-ref %}

# Select products manually

### **Product** Selection

You can manually assign not only a [keyword to each article](/v4/advanced-use/select-keywords) but also a **specific list of products** to be integrated into the content.

{% hint style="success" %}
Manual product selection is an optional feature. You can manually choose products for specific articles while letting the plugin automatically select products for others.
{% endhint %}

#### **Ways to Add Products**

To add products, click the **"Add Products"** button next to the corresponding keyword to open the input textarea.

<figure><img src="/files/W0RbEZNoGvvT4wfh5SBy" alt=""><figcaption><p>Add Products with Amazon Product URLs</p></figcaption></figure>

You can add products using the same methods available in **Content Egg**:

* **Direct product URLs**
* **Product IDs or ASINs**
* **Search terms** (*Not recommended due to less precise results*)

<figure><img src="/files/ICcG5xM7U5RgUoD963Cs" alt=""><figcaption><p>Add Products by Amazon ASINs</p></figcaption></figure>

You can search for and select products directly within the Content Egg plugin. Once you've found the desired products, click the magnet icon button to **copy the list of product IDs (or ASINs) to your clipboard**.

<figure><img src="/files/2gdX9kwgWG0Ts3sktAAJ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Bulk Products Import**

Click the **Import** button to open a popup for bulk keyword and products import using the **special CSV format**.

<figure><img src="/files/5yQ6w21AcABgtPmMLXtd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
Download a CSV file example [here](https://www.keywordrush.com/downloads/roundup_keywords_example.csv).
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/9qUWHIcy9Jxw9WbOorxu" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Recommended Number of Products**

Here’s the suggested number of products for each **article type**:

* **Product Roundups** – **6-10 products** (automatically sorted by rating).
* **Reviews** – **1 product** (single detailed review).
* **Product Comparison** – **2 products** (side-by-side comparison).
* **Informational Articles** – **\~5 products** (one product per section).
* **How-to Guides** – **5-7 products** (one product per guide step).

# Price comparison

For **Roundups** and **Reviews**, you can enable the price comparison feature to display additional "Buy Now" buttons from alternative product sources.

<figure><img src="/files/pg9LEJicKbk09mSpLhgS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **How Price Comparison Works**

The most reliable way to merge products from different modules into a single comparison list is by searching **via EAN**.

<figure><img src="/files/eMLJ4cppuS4qAO4tzre6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
To use this feature, you must enable **Content Egg** modules that support **EAN search**, in addition to your **main affiliate module**.
{% endhint %}

#### **Supported Modules for EAN Search**

{% hint style="success" %}
We recommend using [Sovrn](/v4/getting-started/quick-start), as it has a large product database and does not require individual advertiser approvals.
{% endhint %}

* Amazon
* Amazon No API
* BestBuy
* Bol.com
* CJ Products
* eBay
* Kelkoo
* Kieskeurig.nl
* Sovrn (VigLink)
* Tradedoubler Products
* Tradetracker Products
* Walmart
* Webgains

# Theming

To format your content, you can choose one of the following options:

* Greenshift blocks
* Gutenberg blocks
* Basic HTML

<figure><img src="/files/36EFtbvfK12gKxWf2BKD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In the screenshot below, you can observe the visual distinctions among the three theming methods.

<figure><img src="/files/yNIkIKEW22yRh6qvBb3p" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Please note that Greenshift generally works with any WP theme, while Gutenberg blocks require a theme with full Gutenberg support.
{% endhint %}

On the post edit page, you have the option to convert an article from one theme to another:

<figure><img src="/files/Hc8cr5Jl69JvUR4Gytm3" alt="" width="326"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Post scheduler

To space out your article releases instead of publishing them all at once, follow these steps:

1. At the task creation stage, select '*Post status*' and choose '*Scheduled*'.
2. Then, decide on your '*Post frequency*'.
3. Choose 'Scheduled start' - either 'Now' or 'After all other tasks'.

<figure><img src="/files/geIR6vpxwsVu0Xp8qe7E" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Looking for even more complex publishing patterns? Simply set your articles to the '*Draft*' status and utilize advanced post scheduler plugins like "Auto Post Scheduler".

# Article size

When creating a task, you can select the "Article size" setting:

* Large: 100%
* Medium: 70%
* Small: 50%

<figure><img src="/files/IY3V0QsXgxCWrrkLuMVe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can find the default word lengths for each article type (equivalent to Large 100%) on [this page](https://www.keywordrush.com/toomuchniche/pricing).

For example, if a "Large" Informational article contains 2200 words, then a "Small" article will have approximately 1100 words.

{% hint style="success" %}
A "Small" article will still be comprehensive, covering all essential content and sections, but may exclude additional details.
{% endhint %}

This approach allows for greater content variability on your site, improving search engine visibility.

# Comment generator

Boost reader engagement on your blog with our AI-powered automatic comment generator. This tool prompts real users to participate in discussions, thereby generating fresh content and related keywords.

<figure><img src="/files/2OzBiyB0AZGL4m2RzE09" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Comment **Scheduling**

{% hint style="warning" %}
Only WP admin users have the privilege to preview all comments, including those scheduled for future publication. For regular site visitors/bots, these comments will remain invisible until published.
{% endhint %}

Comments will be **automatically scheduled** for each post over a **two-month period** from the post’s publication date.

* A **higher frequency** of comments will appear **closer to the publication date**.
* This ensures a **natural engagement flow**, keeping discussions active and fresh.

This approach enhances reader interaction, SEO, and content freshness over time.

# How to regenerate article content?

You can completely regenerate an existing post and replace its content.

#### Prerequisites

Before using this feature, ensure that:

* The TMN plugin is activated with a valid license key.
* You have sufficient credits for article generation.
* You have entered your general niche and **selected the main affiliate module** in the first step of the TMN wizard.

#### Steps to Regenerate Content

<figure><img src="/files/W0ifhCbFvqO4F6ZoOK0l" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

1. Navigate to the post edit page.
2. Click the **"Regenerate Content"** button in the TMN widget located in the right sidebar.
3. You will be redirected to the TMN wizard page, where:
   * The post title will be prefilled.
   * For **Roundups, Reviews, and Comparison** articles, the product list will also be prefilled, ensuring the updated article contains the same products. You can modify this list if needed.
   * For **Info and How-to** articles, products will be selected again, as they depend on the content.
   * Feel free to adjust your generation settings, such as tone of voice, article length, and more.
   * If you enable comment generation, existing comments in the article will be replaced with newly generated ones.

<figure><img src="/files/ae6R8z7nRJE63Frcjjbz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Key Differences from Initial Article Generation

* The regeneration process is similar to the original article generation.
* However, instead of creating a new post, the existing post content will be replaced.
* Article keywords undergoing regeneration will be marked with a red numbered badge.

# How to activate featured images?

During task creation in the wizard, you can enable **automatic featured images**. You have options for the image source:

* Main affiliate module
* Pixabay images
* Main module for product articles + Pixabay for informational articles

<figure><img src="/files/01DKzIBjDiUgbxaoVZEF" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Also you can set **external featured images** instead of saving them in the WordPress gallery. To do this, go to `Content Egg > Settings > General` and activate the '`External featured images`' option.

<figure><img src="/files/zGDm8b45sRljLg5hgIHe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Note that **Pixabay** does not allow hotlinking for images, so Pixabay images will be saved locally in any case. Be aware that images and thumbnails can take up a considerable amount of space on your hosting's hard drive.
{% endhint %}

# How to replace irrelevant products?

{% hint style="success" %}
Please check how to regenerate content for existing articles [here](/v4/faq/how-to-regenerate-article-content).&#x20;
{% endhint %}

The Too Much Niche plugin is designed to select relevant Content Egg products for each article. However, there may be times when some products included in articles are not pertinent. Luckily, you have the flexibility to remove or replace these products as needed.

1. Navigate to the post edit page and find the Content Egg metabox at the bottom.
2. To remove irrelevant products, click on "Remove".
3. To add new products, [search and insert](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/set-up-products/how-to-add-products) them and assign them to the same [group](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/frontend/groups) as the removed products.

<figure><img src="/files/6ZPjiZj00StjKqGpbJY3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: Replacing products in *Roundup* lists isn't straightforward, as it requires regenerating post content. However, you can manually edit the post and remove specific blocks.
{% endhint %}

# What is Too Much Niche?

Too Much Niche (TMN) is an AI **niche-site builder** for WordPress. You give it a niche and how you plan to make money; it plans the whole site first — then writes the articles.

That plan-first order is the core idea. TMN doesn't just generate one article at a time. It first builds a **Topic Map** — the hubs, pillar pages, individual articles, search-intent mix, internal links, and a publishing calendar — so every article you generate has a clear job in a coherent site, not a pile of disconnected posts.

## How it works, end to end

1. **Start with a niche.** Tell TMN your topic and your monetization model, and set the scale and structure in a short wizard.
2. **Get a Topic Map.** TMN generates the full plan — hubs, pillar pages, and individual article "nodes," each with a format, a search intent, internal links, and a target publish date.
3. **Review and generate.** Edit the plan, add your own topics, then generate articles one at a time from the queue. Each is composed from a catalog of content blocks, with real products or your business details wired in automatically.
4. **Publish.** Articles arrive in WordPress as native Gutenberg posts (as drafts by default). Review, then publish or schedule.

You stay in control at every step — TMN proposes the plan and the articles; nothing publishes until you say so.

## One engine, five ways to make money

The monetization model you pick reshapes the whole plan — the topics, the article formats, and the blocks that appear:

* [**Affiliate marketing**](/monetization-playbooks/affiliate) — recommend third-party products and earn commission, with real products pulled from affiliate networks.
* [**E-commerce**](/monetization-playbooks/ecommerce) — promote your own catalog from WooCommerce, Shopify, or any product feed.
* [**Display ads**](/monetization-playbooks/display-ads) — traffic-first content built for ad revenue (AdSense, Mediavine, and similar).
* [**Lead generation**](/monetization-playbooks/lead-generation) — turn search traffic into calls and inquiries for a service business, using a Business Profile.
* [**SaaS & digital products**](/monetization-playbooks/saas-digital) — content-led growth that funnels readers to a trial or checkout, using an Offer Profile.

See [Monetization models](/core-concepts/monetization-models) for how each one changes what TMN builds.

## What you need

* **WordPress 6.8+** (PHP 8.0+).
* **The Content Egg plugin** — it powers the product and content blocks. The free version is enough for most models; affiliate product search needs Content Egg Pro. See [Why TMN needs Content Egg](/content-egg-integration/overview).
* **A Too Much Niche license** — Starter, Growth, or Agency. See [Activate your license](/getting-started/activate-license).

## Next step

Ready to build something? Follow the [**Quickstart**](/getting-started/quick-start) to go from a niche to a published article.

# Requirements & installation

Too Much Niche needs two plugins, both installed and active: **Too Much Niche** itself and **Content Egg** (which powers the product and content blocks). Use the latest version of both plugins.

## Requirements

* **WordPress 6.8+** with **PHP 8.0+**.
* **Too Much Niche** + **Content Egg** plugins (install both — see below, and keep both up to date).
* An active **Too Much Niche license** — Starter, Growth, or Agency.

For Content Egg, the **free** version is enough for most models. Affiliate product search needs **Content Egg Pro** with an active Content Egg license — see [Free vs Pro](/content-egg-integration/free-vs-pro).

## Install the plugins

Both plugins install the same way — upload a zip and activate.

1. **Download the plugin zips:**
   * **Too Much Niche** — from your account at [keywordrush.com/panel](https://www.keywordrush.com/panel).
   * **Content Egg** — from [keywordrush.com/panel](https://www.keywordrush.com/panel) (Pro), or the free version from the [WordPress plugin repository](https://wordpress.org/plugins/content-egg/).
2. In WordPress, go to **Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin**, choose a zip, click **Install Now**, then **Activate**.
3. Repeat for the second plugin.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** For Content Egg **Free**, you can skip the download — go to **Plugins → Add New Plugin**, search for *Content Egg*, then **Install** and **Activate**.
{% endhint %}

Order doesn't matter, but Content Egg must be active and up to date for Too Much Niche to work.

## Upgrading from version 4

Version 5 is a complete rewrite. If you're coming from **Too Much Niche v4**, we recommend a clean install rather than updating in place:

1. Go to **Plugins**, **deactivate** Too Much Niche v4, then **delete** it.
2. Install **v5** fresh from your [keywordrush.com/panel](https://www.keywordrush.com/panel) zip and **activate** it.

This gives the smoothest first run and avoids a harmless one-time PHP notice that can appear while the old and new files swap.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Your content is safe.** Published posts are regular WordPress content and are never touched by deleting or reinstalling a plugin.
{% endhint %}

## Keep Too Much Niche up to date

Article and plan generation run on our servers, so the plugin has to stay in sync with them. **Always run the latest version.**

Updating is one click: when a new version is available, an **Update to v…** button appears in the header on any Too Much Niche page. Click it and the plugin updates itself — no re-download needed.

![The TMN v… badge with the blue Update to v… button in the page header](/files/8rx3Ew8F07LbIpheN04W)

## Next

Both plugins installed and active? Next, [**Activate your license**](/getting-started/activate-license) to connect Too Much Niche to your subscription.

# Activate your license

Activation connects the plugin to your subscription so you can create plans and generate articles.

## 1. Get your license key

Copy your license key from your account at [**keywordrush.com/panel**](https://www.keywordrush.com/panel). It looks like this:

```
XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX
```

## 2. Activate

1. In the WordPress admin sidebar, open **Too Much Niche → License**.
2. Under **Enter license key**, paste your key (use the **Paste** button, or paste it manually).
3. Click **Activate**.

That's it — the plugin connects to your subscription and unlocks.

![The Enter license key card with the key field and Activate button](/files/e1Yqj57iRIN0YXpM7Fwl)

## What you'll see

Once active, the **License status** card shows your **Plan**, renewal date, the **site** this license is activated on, and your monthly credit usage — e.g. *“X used · Y remaining.”* This information is fetched live from KeywordRush.

## Next

You're ready to build. Head to the [**Quickstart**](/getting-started/quick-start) to create your first site.

Need to move the license to another site, deactivate it, or fix a lapsed subscription? See [**Manage your license**](/account-and-licensing/manage-license).

# Quickstart: your first site

This walkthrough takes you from a niche to a published affiliate article. It uses the **Affiliate Marketing** model as the example, but the flow is the same for every model.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpS0Dz8Kpbg>" %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Don't let the settings scare you.** The wizard has a lot of options, but only one field is ever required: **Niche**. Everything else has a sensible default or is resolved automatically when articles are generated. If you're unsure about a setting, leave it alone.
{% endhint %}

## Before you start

* Too Much Niche is installed and your license is activated — see [Activate your license](/getting-started/activate-license).
* **Content Egg** is installed. For this affiliate walkthrough you also need **Content Egg Pro** with at least one affiliate network configured (e.g. the Amazon module). See [Why TMN needs Content Egg](/content-egg-integration/overview) and [Free vs Pro](/content-egg-integration/free-vs-pro).

## 1. Start a new plan

In the WordPress admin sidebar, open **Too Much Niche → Content Plans**, then click **+ New plan**.

![The Content Plans screen with the + New plan button](/files/GzXy8mKv68jyQ8yTtSlL)

## 2. Fill in the Basics

The wizard opens on the **Basics** step. This is the only step that needs your input:

* **Plan name** — anything you'll recognize later.
* **Niche** — your topic, e.g. *Standing desks for home offices*.
* **Primary monetization** — choose **Affiliate Marketing**.
* **Affiliate networks** — recommended: pick at least one (e.g. **Amazon**). This tells the planner what you'll promote and pre-fills your product source for generation. You can change it later on the plan.

Everything else on this step — market, language, tone, site stage, and so on — is optional. Leave it on the defaults and TMN fills in sensible values.

When you're done, click **Next: Scale**.

![The Basics step — Plan name, Niche, Primary monetization, Affiliate networks](/files/kaLjH9s0kpaMI5W3TJtV)

## 3. Click through the rest of the wizard

You can accept the defaults on every remaining step:

* **Scale** — leave **Plan scale** on **Auto (recommended)**; TMN sizes the plan to your niche. (Prefer to set the size yourself? You can — but it's not required.)
* **Silo** — internal-linking defaults are fine for a first site.
* **Scan** — for a brand-new site there's nothing to scan; just continue.
* **Review** — check the summary, then click **Generate plan**.

Building your Topic Map runs on our servers and usually takes a few minutes.

![The Review step with the Generate plan button](/files/Sf2ZPEiO8CwjJ4BSVwPA)

## 4. Review your Topic Map

When planning finishes, your plan opens with its **hubs** and **article nodes** — each with a format, an intent, internal links, and a target publish date.

Have a look around. You can edit titles, skip nodes you don't want, or add your own — but you don't have to. See [Edit your Topic Map](/building-a-site/edit-topic-map) when you want to go deeper.

![A generated Topic Map (hubs and nodes)](/files/QlZ0DBKpEaLNUgUZGHEg)

## 5. Generate your first article

Open **Content Queue** (or stay on the plan), find a node, and click **Generate**.

The button shows progress as it works (*Generating…*); a single article takes a couple of minutes. When it's done, the article is saved to WordPress as a **published post**.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Product source:** the Content Egg modules products come from are set in the plan's **Article generation** panel, pre-filled from your plan settings — so you normally don't need to change anything. If Generate is blocked with *Not set — required for generation*, pick a module there (or attach products to the article manually).
{% endhint %}

![A queue row with the Generate button and progress state](/files/EoSiVplowhMvnONOmxiY)

## 6. Review and publish

Click **Edit Post** to open the article in the WordPress editor. Review it, make any tweaks, then **Publish** (or schedule it for later).

That's your first article live. Repeat **Generate** for the rest of the queue, on whatever schedule you like.

## Where to go next

* [**Affiliate marketing**](/monetization-playbooks/affiliate) — get the most out of the model you just used.
* [**Edit your Topic Map**](/building-a-site/edit-topic-map) — shape the plan before generating.
* [**Generate & publish articles**](/building-a-site/generate-articles) — generating on demand, credits, and using your own API key.

# Changelog

{% updates format="full" %}
{% update date="2026-08-10" tags="new" %}

## Autopilot & bulk generation

* **Generate articles without logging in.** Switch Autopilot on and TMN works through your plan on its own, day after day.
* **Nothing goes to waste.** Your monthly articles are spread evenly across the month, so they aren't gone in a weekend and none expire unused.
* **Or keep to your calendar.** Prefer your plan's original schedule? Autopilot can generate whatever is due or overdue instead.
* **Using one license on several sites?** Give each site its own monthly amount so they don't compete for the same articles.
* **You'll only hear from it when it matters.** If articles keep failing, Autopilot stops and emails you. You also get a short summary each time your monthly articles reset.
* **Generate many articles at once.** Tick the articles you want in the Content Queue — or select every article matching your current filters — and send them all for generation in one click.
* **Close the tab and walk away.** Articles now finish on their own and appear in WordPress without the Content Queue staying open. This applies to single articles too.
* **Cancel before they start.** Articles waiting in the queue can be cancelled, one at a time or all at once, and nothing is deducted from your monthly articles.
  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2026-07-31" tags="model" %}

## Claude Opus 5 for Bring-Your-Own-Key

BYOK generation on Claude now runs on **Claude Opus 5**, Anthropic's latest model, replacing Opus 4.8 on the **Advanced** and **Premium** tiers. It is billed at the same per-token rate as Opus 4.8.
{% endupdate %}

{% update date="2026-07-14" tags="new" %}

## New models, text on images & product logos

* **Upgraded to the latest models.** Managed generation now runs on **OpenAI GPT-5.6 sol/terra** — sharper, more natural writing, with no change to your credit cost.
* **New Balanced quality tier (Bring-Your-Own-Key).** Alongside Advanced and Premium, BYOK plans can now choose **Balanced** — a faster, lower-cost tier for publishing more articles while keeping your OpenAI / Claude API spend down. Still ½ credit per article, like all BYOK generation.
* **Control text on featured images.** New per-preset "Text on image" setting — choose **No text**, **Badges & labels only**, or **Allow text** — controlling how much text the AI renders on a generated featured image, alongside image style and aspect ratio.
* **Logos for synthesized products.** AI-synthesized products now automatically show a **brand logo** — pulled from the product's website and saved to your own site, not hotlinked — so their blocks render with a real visual instead of a blank image.
  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2026-06-25" tags="new" %}

## AI-generated featured images

* **Generate an original image.** TMN can now render a unique featured image per article with OpenAI's image model — pick AI-generated, stock, or let the AI decide, per preset.
* **Your own OpenAI key for images.** On Bring-Your-Own-Key plans, switch image generation to your own OpenAI account for **Advanced** or **Premium** quality — set separately from your text provider.
  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2026-06-20" tags="new" %}

## Smarter featured images

* **More sources.** Featured images now draw from every active stock-photo module — Pixabay, **Pexels**, and **Unsplash** — instead of Pixabay alone.
* **AI picks the best match.** From the combined results, the AI selects the photo whose subject best fits the article, judged by each image's title and tags.
* **No repeats across a plan.** The same stock photo won't be reused on another article in the same plan.
  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2026-06-19" tags="new" %}

## Regenerate & manage articles

* **Regenerate any article.** Re-run generation on an already-published article — it replaces the content, SEO meta, and product data in place, keeping the same post URL and publish date. Uses generation credit, like a first generation.
* **Edit before regenerating.** Published articles are now editable: adjust the title, keywords, format, products, or interlinks, then regenerate to apply them.
* **Skip failed articles.** Set a failed article aside without deleting it — it leaves the queue and stops prompting to retry.
  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2026-06-10" tags="major" %}

## Too Much Niche 5.0 — rebuilt from the ground up

Version 5 is a completely new product. Earlier versions were affiliate-focused article generators; v5 is a plan-first **niche-site builder** — it plans your whole site, then writes it. These changes replace how the plugin works, rather than adding to it.

* **Plan-first — the Topic Map.** Enter a niche and TMN generates the whole site plan first: hubs, pillar pages, article nodes, a search-intent mix, an internal-link graph, and a publishing calendar — before any article is written.
* **Five monetization models.** Affiliate, E-commerce, Display Ads, Lead Generation, and SaaS / Digital. The model you choose reshapes the topics, formats, and blocks.
* **Profiles for non-product sites.** Business Profiles (lead gen) and Offer Profiles (SaaS) hydrate CTA, pricing, testimonial, and trust blocks with your real details — kept live after publishing.
* **Articles built from blocks, not templates.** 27 building blocks across editorial, product, and conversion families, composed across 16 formats — the AI assembles each article instead of filling a fixed layout.
* **Real product data.** Pull verified products from affiliate networks, your own product feed, or AI-synthesized entries — with prices that stay current.
* **Automatic interlinking.** A site-wide internal-link graph, woven into articles as contextual links and related-posts blocks.
* **Review-first control.** Shape the plan before anything is written: edit nodes, add your own topics, skip, override the preset per article, and curate products.
* **Site scan.** Plan around your existing content to fill gaps and avoid cannibalization.
* **Bring your own AI key.** Use Premium models (latest GPT / Claude) at ½ credit on Growth and Agency.
* **Native WordPress output.** Real Gutenberg blocks via Content Egg, with product and profile data rendered live at view time.
  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2025-08-18" tags="model" %}

* **Model Upgrade** – Upgraded to **OpenAI ChatGPT-5 reasoning models**, delivering more natural, lively, and creative content.
* **Extended Article Length** – Increased the maximum supported article length.
* **Creativity Settings Deprecated** – Removed the *Creativity Level (temperature)* setting.
  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2025-06-04" tags="new" %}

  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2025-03-07" tags="integration" %}

## Udemy support

You can now generate all types of articles for Udemy.

# The Topic Map

When you create a plan, Too Much Niche doesn't hand you a single article — it generates a **Topic Map**: a complete plan for your whole site. It works out *what* to publish, *how* it's organized, *how* the articles link together, and *when* to publish each one — all before a word is written. That plan-first order is the heart of how TMN works.

## Why plan first?

Anyone can generate a hundred articles. The problem is that a hundred disconnected posts don't rank — no structure, no internal links, no strategy. A Topic Map gives every article a job: some target commercial topics, others build supporting authority, and all of them link into one coherent structure. The result is a **site**, not a pile of posts.

## What's inside a Topic Map

A Topic Map has three parts: **hubs**, **pillar pages**, and **articles**.

### Hubs

A **hub** is a topic cluster — a group of related articles covering one sub-topic of your niche. An earbuds site, for example, might have hubs like *Noise-cancelling earbuds*, *Budget earbuds*, and *Earbuds for running*. Your plan is organized into several hubs.

Each hub also maps to a **WordPress category**: TMN suggests a category name, and every article in the hub is published under it. You can rename the suggestion or assign an existing category.

### Pillar pages

Each hub has a **pillar page** — a special page that links to every article in that hub. The pillar is the cluster's home base: it gives readers and search engines a clear map of the topic and ties the hub together. TMN usually gives a pillar a broad, comprehensive format — a beginner guide or a buying guide — so it works as a thorough overview of the whole hub.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Surface your pillars in navigation.** Pillars are your top-level topics, so link them from both the **main menu** and the **homepage** — the menu sitewide link is the strongest internal signal you can give a page, and the homepage adds context-rich anchor text. Keep this to pillars only (not individual articles); with many hubs, put your top 4–6 in the menu and surface the rest in a homepage section. This is a manual WordPress step — TMN wires the article-to-article links for you, but menus and the homepage are yours to set.
{% endhint %}

### Articles

Each hub contains the individual **articles** (called *nodes* in the app). An article is one planned post, and it carries the details that tell TMN how to write it:

* **Format** — the kind of article: review, how-to, comparison, buying guide, FAQ, and so on.
* **Intent** — whether it's a **money** article (commercial) or an **info** article (supporting content), or a mix of both.
* **Priority** — how high-opportunity the topic is, so you know what's worth doing first.
* **Internal links** — which other articles it should link to, with suggested anchor text.
* **Target publish date** — where it sits on your calendar.

## How it all links together

TMN plans the internal links across the **entire** map, not article by article: supporting info articles link up to the money articles and pillars they support, related articles link to each other, and every pillar links to all the articles in its hub. Those links are added automatically when you generate each article — so your site is interlinked from day one, not patched together later.

Internal linking has a few moving parts — link types, contextual links, and related-article blocks. See [**Interlinking**](/core-concepts/interlinking) for how it works.

## The publishing calendar

Every article is given a **target publish date**, spread across the planning horizon at the publishing pace you set in the wizard. That turns the plan into a ready-made editorial calendar instead of a flat to-do list. You can change any individual article's target date later while you work through the plan.

## It's a proposal — you stay in control

The Topic Map is a starting point you shape *before* anything is written. From the plan you can:

* **Edit an article** — change its title, format, intent, target date, or attach specific products to it.
* **Add your own articles** — create new ones inside any hub.
* **Skip** articles you don't want, without deleting them.

Nothing is written until you choose to generate it, one article at a time.

## Next

* [**Create a content plan**](/building-a-site/create-a-plan) — generate your first Topic Map.
* [**Edit your Topic Map**](/building-a-site/edit-topic-map) — shape the plan before generating.
* [**Monetization models**](/core-concepts/monetization-models) — how your chosen model reshapes the map.

# Interlinking

Internal links tie your site together — they pass authority between articles, guide readers, and build topical authority. TMN plans these links for the whole site during planning, then weaves them into each article as it's generated. You don't wire them up by hand.

## The link plan

While building your Topic Map, TMN designs a recommended internal-link graph across the **whole** plan:

* supporting (info) articles link **up** to the money articles and pillars they support,
* related articles within a hub link to **each other**,
* articles can link **across hubs** (depending on your silo settings), and
* every **pillar** links out to the articles in its hub.

Each suggested link comes with anchor text.

{% hint style="info" %}
**The graph is a recommendation, not a quota.** When an article is generated, TMN adds the suggested links *where they fit naturally* — it won't force every link in. How many actually appear depends on the article's topic and length.
{% endhint %}

**How completely a pillar covers its hub depends on hub size.** It links to every child in a hub of twelve or fewer. Above that it covers most of them, not always every one — in a hub of twenty, expect around fifteen or more. Twenty links on one page reads like a directory rather than an article, so TMN keeps the page readable and lets Related Posts blocks carry the bulk of them.

## How links appear in an article

Links show up in two ways:

1. **Contextual links (preferred)** — placed inside the prose (and some blocks) right where the topic comes up. These use a `[nodelink]` shortcode (below).
2. **"Related Posts" block** — when there's no natural spot in the text, TMN adds the link in a Related Posts block instead, each with a short generated snippet and an adapted title.

Contextual links are the priority; the Related Posts block is the fallback, so a planned link still lands somewhere in the article.

## The `[nodelink]` shortcode

A contextual link is stored as a shortcode. In the editor it looks like this:

```
…on a tighter budget, see our [nodelink id="7f3a9c12-4e8b-4d21-9a6f-2c5e1b8d0a44"]best wireless earbuds under $100[/nodelink] roundup before you decide.
```

It links by the target article's **ID**, not a fixed URL — so it keeps working even if the target's URL changes, and it can point to an article you haven't generated yet. That leads to one behavior worth knowing:

* **Target not generated yet** — the anchor stays plain text for everyone, admins included. There's nothing to point at until the article exists in WordPress.
* **Target generated but not live** (draft or scheduled) — **visitors** see plain text, never a broken link; as an **admin** you get a working link, so you can preview and click through.
* **Target published** — a normal link for everyone.

**Related Posts** blocks are stricter: they list only targets that are published or scheduled, so ungenerated and draft articles are skipped. When none of a block's targets are live yet, it renders nothing on your site and shows a short placeholder in the editor.

You don't write or edit these by hand; TMN inserts them for you.

## If you generate a pillar first

Pillars are usually the first article you generate in a hub — which means everything they link to is still unwritten. The result looks alarming: a couple of plain-text mentions and some empty Related Posts blocks, on the page that's meant to be the hub's front door.

That's expected, and it resolves itself.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Don't regenerate.** The links are already in the article, waiting on their targets. Each one becomes a real link the moment its target is published — one at a time, with nothing for you to do. Regenerating spends a credit and still can't link to an article that doesn't exist yet.
{% endhint %}

To confirm the links really are there, open the article in the editor and switch to code view: you'll see `[nodelink]` shortcodes in the prose and Related Posts blocks holding their list of targets. The node drawer's **Interlinking** panel shows the same picture from the plan side.

## What you control

**Plan-wide — the wizard's Silo step.** A few settings shape how widely and how strongly TMN links: **silo architecture** (Classic / Hybrid / Topic Graph), **cross-hub linking**, **link strength**, **anchor diversity**, **cannibalization strictness**, and **always link upward to hub**. The defaults produce a clean silo — most people leave them alone.

**Per article — the node drawer's Interlinking panel.** Open an article and the **Interlinking** panel shows what it *will link to*. There you can rename a link's **anchor text** or **remove** a link. Changes take effect the next time the article is generated.

![The Interlinking panel in the node drawer (outgoing links + anchor text)](/files/ai8KIPAaPoTKqa7wN1g8)

## Next

* [**The Topic Map**](/core-concepts/topic-map) — how hubs, pillars, and articles fit together.
* [**Edit your Topic Map**](/building-a-site/edit-topic-map) — shaping the plan, including per-article links.

# Blocks & formats

TMN doesn't pour an article out of a single template. It assembles each one from small building **blocks** — so no two articles share a fixed skeleton, and commercial blocks are placed by strategy rather than pasted on at the end. Think Lego, not templates.

## Three block families

Every article is composed from blocks in three families:

* **Editorial blocks** — the prose and structure: intros, sections, key takeaways, FAQs, step lists, conclusions. No product or profile data.
* **Product blocks** — bound to a product (real, from your catalog, or AI-synthesized): product cards, comparison tables, pros & cons, rating breakdowns, where-to-buy.
* **Conversion blocks** — bound to a [profile](/core-concepts/profiles): CTA, pricing, testimonials, trust signals. These carry the monetization in lead-gen and SaaS articles.

Blocks are rendered by **Content Egg**. For the full catalog and what each block looks like, see the Content Egg docs: [EggBlocks introduction](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/egg-blocks/introduction) and the [block reference](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/egg-blocks/block-reference).

## Formats

A **format** is the kind of article — review, how-to, comparison, and so on. It's a genre *guideline*, not a rigid template: the AI decides the exact outline and block mix within the format's boundaries. TMN has **16 formats**, in two groups:

* **Product-first formats** — the article is built around products, so products are resolved **before** the outline is written. Examples: product reviews, roundups ("best of"), comparisons, alternatives, gift guides.
* **Content-first formats** — the content comes first; where product slots fit, they're filled afterward with products **relevant to that section**. Examples: how-tos, buying guides, troubleshooting, explainers, FAQs.

See the [Article formats](/reference/formats) reference for the full list.

## How blocks and formats come together

You don't place blocks by hand. For each article, the AI composes the block mix from three inputs:

* **Format** — sets the natural shape (a review reads differently than a how-to).
* **Intent** — money/mixed articles include commercial blocks; info articles stay editorial.
* **Monetization model** — decides whether the commercial blocks are product blocks or profile-driven conversion blocks.

A few blocks are simply switched on or off by your **Generation Preset** — for example price-comparison blocks, YouTube embeds, or the table of contents. Everything else is composed automatically.

## What you control

* **Per article** — set the **Format** and **Intent** in the node drawer; see [Edit your Topic Map](/building-a-site/edit-topic-map).
* **Which formats a plan may use** — in the new-plan wizard, under **Basics → Advanced settings → Allowed formats**, you can limit TMN to specific formats. **Leave it empty (recommended)** so TMN picks the best format for each topic.
* **Across a plan** — toggle optional blocks and writing style in your Generation Preset; see [Use presets](/building-a-site/presets).

![One generated article showing a mix of editorial and product blocks](/files/T3nF4XfSImc6Uhnxmf8q)

# Monetization models

You choose a **monetization model** when you create a plan, and it's the most consequential choice you make. It reshapes everything downstream — the topics TMN plans, the article formats it favors, and the blocks it builds into each article.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**The model is fixed for the life of a plan — it can't be changed afterward.** To use a different model, create a new plan. So pick the one that matches how this site makes money.
{% endhint %}

## The dividing line: products vs. profiles

Every model comes down to *how the article makes money* — by recommending **products**, or by driving an action through a **profile**.

**Product-based models** put product blocks in articles — product cards, comparison tables, pros & cons, ratings. What differs is where the products come from:

* **Affiliate** — real products pulled from affiliate networks (Amazon, Walmart, eBay, …).
* **E-commerce** — products from your own catalog via a product feed; links go to your store, not a marketplace.
* **Display ads** — no real products needed; TMN can synthesize representative products so you can still run product-style articles for traffic.

**Profile-based models** make money through **conversion blocks** instead — CTA, pricing, testimonials, and trust signals — hydrated from a [profile](/core-concepts/profiles) you fill in once:

* **Lead generation** — a **Business Profile** for a service business.
* **SaaS / Digital** — an **Offer Profile** for a software product, course, or other digital offer.

These articles can still include **product blocks** where they help the content (comparisons, roundups) — the products are AI-synthesized and can even link to real merchant sites. The difference is that the *monetization* runs through the profile's CTAs and pricing, not the products.

## The five models at a glance

| Model | Best for | What powers the content | Content Egg |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------- |
| Affiliate marketing | Commission on others' products | Real products from affiliate networks | **Pro** (auto product search) |
| E-commerce | Selling your own catalog | Your product feed (WooCommerce, Shopify, any) | **Feed module** (Free or Pro) |
| Display ads | Ad revenue from traffic | Info-first content; synthesized products where useful | Free is enough |
| Lead generation | Inquiries for a service business | A Business Profile | Free is enough |
| SaaS / Digital | Trials & sales for a digital product | An Offer Profile | Free is enough |

Content Egg is required for **every** model — it renders the blocks. The last column shows what each model needs *beyond* that; see [Free vs Pro](/content-egg-integration/free-vs-pro).

## Pick your model

* [**Affiliate marketing**](/monetization-playbooks/affiliate) — recommend third-party products and earn commission; TMN finds and ranks real products for your reviews and roundups.
* [**E-commerce**](/monetization-playbooks/ecommerce) — turn your own catalog into content that sends shoppers to your product pages.
* [**Display ads**](/monetization-playbooks/display-ads) — build traffic-first content structured for ad revenue.
* [**Lead generation**](/monetization-playbooks/lead-generation) — turn search traffic into calls and inquiries for a service business.
* [**SaaS & digital products**](/monetization-playbooks/saas-digital) — content-led growth that funnels readers to a trial or checkout.

# Profiles (Business & Offer)

Profiles power the profile-based [monetization models](/core-concepts/monetization-models). You describe your business or offer **once** in a profile, and TMN uses it to write conversion-aware articles and to fill the **CTA, pricing, testimonial, and trust** blocks with your real details.

There are two types, one per model:

* **Business Profile** — for [**Lead generation**](/monetization-playbooks/lead-generation). Describes a service business: identity, location and service areas, contact methods and CTA links (website, landing page, booking, contact form), services and pricing, and trust (guarantees, ratings, certifications, testimonials).
* **Offer Profile** — for [**SaaS & digital products**](/monetization-playbooks/saas-digital). Describes a product or offer: identity, pricing model and plans, conversion URLs (signup, trial, demo, checkout), value proposition and audience, and social proof.

{% hint style="info" %}
You don't need to fill every field. Provide what you have — TMN uses what's there and leaves the rest out.
{% endhint %}

## Fill a profile with AI

Typing all of this by hand is tedious, so the profile editor has an **AI fill-in** panel that lets any AI assistant do it for you:

1. Click **Copy schema** and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI chat.
2. Share your website URL, pricing page, or any relevant details.
3. Ask the AI to fill in the schema, then copy the JSON it returns.
4. Click **Paste from schema**, paste the JSON, and **Apply** to populate the form.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Review every field before saving — AI can invent facts.** Treat the AI's output as a draft, not the final word.
{% endhint %}

![The AI fill-in panel (Copy schema / Paste from schema)](/files/aQhcUt8FCEmeZX6gbJEO)

## How profile data reaches your articles

* **It stays live.** Contact links, prices, and testimonials are pulled from the profile when a page is viewed — not baked into the post. Update the profile (say, a new phone number) and **every published article reflects it automatically** — no re-editing posts.
* **It's used in context.** TMN shows the AI only what each block needs. Your brand name appears in the **CTA and conversion blocks**, but the editorial prose stays neutral — "a licensed plumber in Austin," not your business name on every line — so the writing doesn't read like an ad.

## Create and reuse a profile

* **Create:** in the admin sidebar, open **Too Much Niche → Business Profiles** (or **Offer Profiles**) and click **+ New profile**.
* **Set a default:** mark a profile as the default (it shows a **Default** badge). New plans of that model use it automatically, so you don't have to attach it every time.
* A plan uses **one** profile, set on the plan.

![The profiles list with a Default badge and + New profile](/files/RtnMv63mL4h3JQqdNNXh)

## Next

* [**Lead generation**](/monetization-playbooks/lead-generation) — build a site around a Business Profile.
* [**SaaS & digital products**](/monetization-playbooks/saas-digital) — build a site around an Offer Profile.

# Create a content plan (the wizard)

The new-plan wizard turns a niche into a complete [Topic Map](/core-concepts/topic-map). It has five steps — **Basics, Scale, Silo, Scan, Review** — but only one field is ever required: **Niche**. Everything else has a sensible default or is resolved automatically, so leave a setting alone unless you have a reason to change it.

Open it from **Too Much Niche → Content Plans → + New plan**.

## Step 1 — Basics

Your niche and the planner's assumptions.

* **Niche** — the only required field.
* **Primary monetization** — the model for this site. It reshapes the whole plan and is **fixed once the plan is created**, so choose carefully (see [Monetization models](/core-concepts/monetization-models)). Depending on the model, you'll also pick **affiliate networks**, a **product source**, or a **Business / Offer Profile** here.
* **Market, language** (English by default; see [Supported languages](/reference/languages)), **site stage, expertise, tone** — optional baseline settings that the rest of generation inherits.
* **Advanced settings → Allowed formats** — restrict which formats TMN may use. **Leave it empty (recommended)** so TMN picks the best format per topic.

![The Basics step](/files/kaLjH9s0kpaMI5W3TJtV)

## Step 2 — Scale

How big the plan is and how it's paced.

* **Plan scale** — **Auto (recommended)** sizes it to your niche; or choose **Starter / Standard / Authority**, or **Custom** to set hubs and depth yourself.
* **Pace** — set a **Planning horizon** (finish within X) *or* a **Publishing velocity** (posts per week); TMN spreads the publishing calendar to match.
* **Info / Money mix** — how commercial the plan leans.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Bigger isn't better.** A larger plan doesn't mean more traffic — a tightly focused plan usually ranks better. Split a wide niche into a few smaller plans rather than one giant one.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Big plans (100+ articles)** stretch further on your own API key — ½ credit each, with your choice of quality. See [Bring your own API key](/account-and-licensing/byo-api-key).
{% endhint %}

![The Scale step](/files/8kyE9vdri5ruvPavf8ka)

## Step 3 — Silo

The internal-linking structure — hubs, pillars, and how widely articles cross-link. The defaults produce a clean silo, so most people leave this step as-is. See [Interlinking](/core-concepts/interlinking) for what the controls do.

![The Silo step](/files/PJF4ccAjmnJ8p3ON23kI)

## Step 4 — Scan existing site (optional)

If your site already has content, the scan lets TMN plan **around the gaps** instead of duplicating what you've published — and helps avoid keyword cannibalization. Skip it for a brand-new site.

* **Scan mode** — turn it on with **Scan site inventory** (off by default for a fresh site).
* **Time window, post types & statuses, category filter** — narrow what's analyzed. Up to **500 posts** are included in the scan.
* **Include existing categories** — lets the new plan **reuse your existing categories** where they fit the new articles, instead of always creating new ones.
* You can **preview** what the scan picks up before continuing.

![The Scan step](/files/nsCNiNbSFVXKkv5rNZcJ)

## Step 5 — Review & generate

Check the summary, then click **Generate plan**.

![The Review step with Generate plan](/files/Sf2ZPEiO8CwjJ4BSVwPA)

## After you submit

Planning runs on our servers and takes a few minutes. The plan's **details page** opens and shows progress as it builds — **keep that page open**, because it polls for the finished plan and loads it when it's ready. If you navigate away, reopen the plan from **Content Plans** to let it finish loading.

Once planning completes, the plan is ready — you can start generating articles right away.

## Next

* [**The Topic Map**](/core-concepts/topic-map) — what you get and how it's organized.
* [**Edit your Topic Map**](/building-a-site/edit-topic-map) — shape the plan before generating.
* [**Generate & publish articles**](/building-a-site/generate-articles) — turn the plan into posts.

# Edit your Topic Map

Your Topic Map is a proposal — shape it before you generate anything. This page covers the edits you'll actually use: changing an article's details, setting a hub's category, adding your own articles, and skipping the ones you don't want.

{% hint style="info" %}
Attaching products and adjusting internal links happen here too, but they have their own pages: [Curate products](/building-a-site/curate-products) and [Interlinking](/core-concepts/interlinking).
{% endhint %}

## Open an article

Click any article row — in the plan or in the **Content Queue** — to open the **node drawer** on the right. It opens read-only (**Node details**); click **Edit** to change fields, then **Save**.

![Clicking an article row opens the node drawer on the right](/files/EdeLMvgkd3jAq85RAdD2)

## Edit an article's details

In **Edit** mode you can change:

* **Working title** — the article's recommended title, and a starting point: TMN may polish it during generation to match the finished article and real product data.
* **Primary keyword** / **Secondary keywords** — what it targets.
* **Format** — the kind of article (review, how-to, comparison, …).
* **Intent** — **Money**, **Info**, or **Mixed**. Some formats (reviews, roundups, comparisons) must be Money or Mixed; the drawer won't let you set Info for those.
* **Target Publish date** — where the article sits on your calendar. **If the date is in the future, the generated post is created as&#x20;*****Scheduled*****&#x20;for that date.** Otherwise the post uses the status (draft, pending, or publish) from your Generation Preset.
* **Writing preset** — override the plan's preset for just this article. Defaults to **Inherit from plan**.
* **Instructions for AI** — free-text notes that steer how this one article is written.

Click **Save** when you're done.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Leave a pillar's format alone.** TMN gives each pillar a broad format (a beginner guide or buying guide) on purpose: a pillar has to stay a wide overview so it naturally hosts links to every article in its hub. Switching it to a narrow format breaks that role.
{% endhint %}

## Set a hub's category

Every article in a hub is published into one WordPress category. Next to each hub you'll see its category — TMN's suggested name, or **Set category** if none is chosen yet. Click it to:

* **search and pick an existing** category, or
* **type a new name** and choose **Use new category: "…"**.

![The hub category picker (search or type a category)](/files/TC60ww2AuOXV78zN1VoN)

## Add your own article

Need a topic TMN didn't include? On the hub where it belongs, click **+ Add article**. In the **New node** drawer, fill the required fields — **Working title**, **Primary keyword**, **Format**, **Intent**, and **Target Publish date** — then click **Create node**. Your article joins the plan and generates like any other.

![The + Add article button on a hub and the New node drawer](/files/4FLt7BmlnLFTTeIoTm9m)

## Skip or delete

* **Skip** hides an article's **Generate** button without removing it — handy for topics you might want later, or ones you'd rather not generate. **Unskip** any time. This is how you set aside AI-planned articles you don't want.
* **Delete node** is only available for articles **you added yourself**. AI-planned articles can't be deleted — skip them instead.

## Next

* [**Generate & publish articles**](/building-a-site/generate-articles) — turn your plan into posts.
* [**Curate products**](/building-a-site/curate-products) — attach specific products to an article.
* [**Interlinking**](/core-concepts/interlinking) — how internal links work and how to adjust them.

# Generate & publish articles

Once your Topic Map is ready, you turn its articles into real WordPress posts — on demand, one click at a time. Nothing is written until you press **Generate**.

## Where to generate

Same **Generate** button, two places:

* **Plan details** — work through the articles in a single plan.
* **Content Queue** — every article across all your plans in one list, with filters (plan, status, format, intent) and search. Best for working through a backlog.

![The Content Queue with its filters](/files/sumojdQ70OKPmiHYWoLk)

## Generate an article

Find an article and click **Generate** (on the row, or inside its drawer). A progress indicator runs while it works; a single article takes a couple of minutes. When it finishes, the post is created in WordPress.

What status the post gets:

* By default it's **published**. You control this with the **Post status** setting in your Generation Preset (publish, draft, or pending).
* If the article's **target publish date is in the future**, the post is created as **Scheduled** for that date instead.

Then use **Edit Post** or **View Post** to open it.

![A queue row generating, with progress](/files/EoSiVplowhMvnONOmxiY)

## Review and publish

A generated article is an ordinary WordPress post — Gutenberg blocks in your own site. Open it with **Edit Post**, review and adjust anything, then **Publish** as you would any post. A draft is one click to publish; an article that arrived **Scheduled** (a future target date) is published automatically by WordPress on that date.

You don't need to maintain the product or conversion blocks by hand: **prices, links, images, and CTA/contact details refresh at view time**, so they stay correct after publishing — and update on their own when a product or your profile changes. Avoid replacing those with hardcoded values.

## Generating many at once

In the **Content Queue**, tick the articles you want and click **Generate selected**. To take everything matching your current filters — a whole plan, or every article of one format — use **Select all … matching these filters**. Only articles that are ready to generate can be ticked; the count on the button is what will actually run.

Selected articles are marked **Queued** and sent for generation automatically, a batch at a time. The server then generates a fixed number **in parallel** — your plan's **concurrency limit** — and the rest start as slots free up.

**You don't need to keep the page open.** Finished articles are pulled into WordPress on their own, whether or not the Content Queue is in front of you. Queue a few hundred, close the tab, and come back later.

{% hint style="info" %}
Background work runs on WordPress's built-in scheduler, which only wakes up when your site gets a visitor — so on a quiet site, queued articles can sit waiting. Before queueing a large batch, it's worth setting up a real cron job running **every minute**: see [Troubleshooting](/help/common-issues).
{% endhint %}

**Changed your mind?** Articles still marked **Queued** haven't been sent yet — click **Cancel** on a row, or **Cancel all queued**, and nothing is deducted from your monthly articles. Once an article reaches **In progress** it's already generating and can't be stopped.

## Generating without logging in

If you'd rather not do this by hand each month, **Autopilot** works through your plan on its own — a few articles a day, paced so your monthly allowance is neither used up in the first week nor left to expire. See [**Generate on autopilot**](/building-a-site/autopilot).

## Credits and your own API key

Each generated article uses one **article credit** from your monthly allowance. With **your own API key**, an article costs **½ credit** — doubling how many you can generate. Your usage is shown on the **License** page.

* [Plans & limits](/account-and-licensing/plans-and-limits)
* [Bring your own API key](/account-and-licensing/byo-api-key)

## If generation fails

* **Read the error message first.** It usually explains exactly what went wrong — for example, that no relevant products could be found. Often there's no point retrying as-is; fix the underlying issue (edit the article's details) before trying again.
* Click **Retry** to try again. After three failed attempts the button changes to **Edit to Retry** — open the article, adjust it (for example, clarify the title or the **Instructions for AI**), and try again.
* For **affiliate** and **e-commerce** money articles, **Generate** stays disabled until the article has a **product source**. Set one on the plan, or attach products to the article — see [Curate products](/building-a-site/curate-products).

## Next

* [**Curate products**](/building-a-site/curate-products) — control which products appear in an article.
* [**SEO titles & meta descriptions**](/building-a-site/seo-meta) — titles and descriptions are written as each post is generated.
* [**Interlinking**](/core-concepts/interlinking) — how internal links work.

# Generate on autopilot

Autopilot writes your planned articles for you, day after day, without you logging in. Turn it on once and TMN works through your plan on its own.

## Turn it on

Go to **Too Much Niche → Autopilot** and flip the switch at the top. That's the only step that's required — everything below it already has sensible defaults.

The panel at the top always tells you where things stand: whether Autopilot is on, how many articles it has started today, and whether anything needs you.

![The Autopilot page, switched on](/files/AuMVKNAt9TmmhrNaEbxj)

Articles are created using each plan's preset, so whether they go live straight away or wait as drafts is whatever you already chose there. The page tells you which one applies.

## Choose a pace

There are two ways to decide how many articles get written each day.

* **Use my monthly allowance** *(default)* — spreads your monthly articles evenly across the month. With 100 articles and 30 days, that's about 3 or 4 a day. You don't run out in the first week, and nothing is left unused when the month resets.
* **Follow my plan calendar** — writes whatever your plan says is due today, plus anything that's overdue. Best if you set a publishing schedule when you created the plan and want to keep to it.

{% hint style="info" %}
Autopilot decides when articles are **written**. Your plan still decides when they **appear** — an article with a future publish date is created as Scheduled, and WordPress publishes it on the day.
{% endhint %}

## Set a monthly amount

**Monthly budget for this site** is how many articles this site is allowed to generate each month. It starts at your full allowance, and the page shows roughly how many a day that works out to.

If your license is used on more than one site, all of them draw from the same pool of articles. Give each site its own amount so they don't compete for the same ones — for example 60 on your main site and 40 on the second. TMN reminds you about this on the page when it sees more than one site.

## Choose which plans

Autopilot covers every active plan. Untick any plan you'd rather work through yourself — it stays in the list, so you can add it back whenever you like.

{% hint style="warning" %}
New plans are included automatically. If you prefer to review and edit a Topic Map before anything is written, untick the plan first, or leave Autopilot off until you're happy with it.
{% endhint %}

## When Autopilot stops

* **You've used your articles for the month** — it waits, then starts again on its own when your allowance resets. Nothing for you to do.
* **Articles keep failing** — after five failures in a row it stops and emails you, naming the article and what went wrong. Fix that, then press **Resume**.
* **Your license isn't active** — it stops, and starts again by itself once the license is active again.

Running out of articles is normal and fixes itself. Repeated failures usually mean something in a plan needs attention — most often a missing product source.

## Emails

Autopilot only emails when it's worth your time:

* **When something needs your attention** — it has stopped, and why.
* **When your monthly articles reset** — a short summary of last month, and what's coming this month.

Choose the address, or switch either message off, under **Notifications** on the Autopilot page. You won't get an email simply for running out of articles, because that sorts itself out.

## Keeping it running

Autopilot relies on WordPress's background tasks, and those only run when somebody visits your site. On a quiet site it can sit idle for a long time.

Setting up a proper scheduled task on your hosting fixes this, and is worth doing before you leave Autopilot to run unattended — see [Troubleshooting](/help/common-issues). The Autopilot page shows a warning when it detects the problem.

# SEO titles & meta descriptions

TMN writes an **SEO title** and **meta description** for every article it generates — the text search engines show in results. It works with your existing SEO plugin, and stands in for one if you don't have it.

## Turn it on (it's on by default)

Meta generation is controlled by your **Generation Preset**, under **SEO automation**:

* **Generate meta title**
* **Generate meta description**

Both are **on by default**, so you usually don't have to do anything. The same SEO-automation group also generates **tags** and **schema**. Switch any of them off in the preset if you'd rather handle them yourself — see [Use presets](/building-a-site/presets).

## Works with your SEO plugin

When a post is generated, TMN detects your active SEO plugin and writes the title and description straight into **its** fields — so they appear in that plugin's editor and on your live pages, exactly as if you'd typed them in. Supported plugins:

* **Yoast SEO**
* **Rank Math**
* **All in One SEO**
* **SEOPress**
* **The SEO Framework**

Detection is automatic — there's nothing to configure. If you switch SEO plugins later, newly generated posts write to the new plugin's fields.

{% hint style="info" %}
TMN **also** keeps its own copy of every title and description, alongside the SEO plugin's. So nothing is lost if you change or remove your SEO plugin.
{% endhint %}

## No SEO plugin? TMN handles it

If none of the supported plugins is active, TMN serves the meta itself:

* It outputs the **page title** and the **`<meta name="description">`** tag on each article, so search engines still get the right values.
* It adds a lightweight **"SEO Meta (TMN)"** box on the post editor where you can read and edit the meta title and description by hand.

That box only appears when no supported SEO plugin is active — when one is, you edit the meta in that plugin instead.

## Editing after generation

You're always free to tweak what TMN generated — your edits win.

* **With an SEO plugin** — edit the title and description in that plugin's panel on the post, as usual.
* **Without one** — edit them in the **SEO Meta (TMN)** box on the post editor.

## Where it's stored

TMN writes the title and description to two custom fields on every post:

* **Meta title** — `_tmn_meta_title`
* **Meta description** — `_tmn_meta_description`

It writes the active SEO plugin's own keys too, so both stay in sync. Developers can change or extend the destination keys with the `tmn_seo_meta_keys` filter.

## Next

* [**Use presets**](/building-a-site/presets) — where the SEO-automation toggles live.
* [**Generate & publish articles**](/building-a-site/generate-articles) — meta is written as each post is created.

# Reader comments

TMN can generate realistic **reader comments** for an article — a natural discussion thread, with back-and-forth between commenters and replies from the post author. It's a light engagement signal that makes a new post feel established.

## Turn it on (off by default)

Reader comments are controlled by your **Generation Preset**, under **Engagement**:

* **Generate user comments** — switches the feature on (it's **off by default**).
* **Comments volume** — roughly how many comments to generate per article.

Leave it off if you'd rather have no generated comments, or moderate everything yourself. See [Use presets](/building-a-site/presets).

## What gets generated

When enabled, each generated article gets a small thread:

* **Top-level comments** from readers, in a natural voice.
* **Replies** — discussion between commenters, and answers from the **post author** (attributed to your real WordPress user, not a placeholder name).

They're inserted as normal, approved WordPress comments, so your theme displays them like any other discussion.

## They appear gradually, not all at once

This is the important part: **comments don't all show up the moment you publish.** TMN dates them across the first weeks and months after the post goes live, so the discussion **grows organically over time** instead of landing as a suspicious wall of comments on day one.

{% hint style="info" %}
**You see more than your visitors do.** As an admin or editor, you see **every** generated comment on the front end — including ones dated in the future that haven't "arrived" yet. Regular visitors and search engines only see comments whose date has already passed, and the comment count reflects only those. So if a live post shows 3 comments but you see 12, that's expected — the rest surface over the coming weeks.
{% endhint %}

## Moderating

Generated comments are real WordPress comments — find them under **Comments** in wp-admin and edit, reply, unapprove, or delete any of them as usual. Deleting one that hasn't surfaced yet simply means it never appears.

## Next

* [**Use presets**](/building-a-site/presets) — where the Engagement toggles live.
* [**Generate & publish articles**](/building-a-site/generate-articles) — comments are added as the post is created.

# Curate products

For the product-based [models](/core-concepts/monetization-models) — affiliate, e-commerce, and display — TMN puts products into your articles. You control which ones at two levels: the **plan's product source**, and **per-article curation**. The guiding rule is simple: **you know best** — any product you choose by hand takes priority and won't be overwritten.

## Auto vs. curated

Open an article's drawer and you'll find its **Products** panel. Each product is tagged one of two ways:

* **auto** — TMN found it automatically.
* **curated** — you attached it by hand. Curated products are **locked**: automatic search won't replace them.

If you don't attach anything, products are **auto-researched at generation time**.

## Plan level: the product source

For **affiliate** plans, choose which networks TMN searches in the plan's **Article generation** panel → **Product source**. Automatic product search is available for these Content Egg modules:

* **Amazon API**, **Amazon No API**, **Bol.com**, **Walmart**, **BestBuy**, **eBay**.

You can still **manually attach** products from *any* other Content Egg module, even ones without automatic search.

## Attach products by hand

In the article's **Products** panel, click **+ Add products**. In the search box, choose a Content Egg module, type a keyword (and optionally a price range), search, and attach the ones you want. They become **curated** and stay put through regeneration. Remove one with its **×**, or use **Remove all** to start over.

![The Products panel showing auto vs. curated products](/files/9sePQOSj81bNDfTJpDQ6) ![The product search (module + keyword + price)](/files/oLl9r5sjQ3G3Mbl6qGb6)

## How the search runs — affiliate vs. e-commerce

The two product models find products in very different ways.

**Affiliate — searched at generation, on our server.** TMN passes your selected network modules to the generation server, which searches, ranks, and places products as it writes the article. (This is why a money article needs a product source — or manually attached products — before it will generate.)

**E-commerce — searched in your site, up front.** A product feed lives in your WordPress database and can be very large, so it isn't searched on our server. Instead:

* The planner suggests search keywords and criteria for each product article.
* When the article is created, TMN searches your feed **locally** and attaches matching products right away.
* It attaches **more than the article needs** — a pool of "reserve candidates." At generation, the AI picks the best ones for the article.
* You can **preview and edit** these suggested feed products before generating.

E-commerce works with **any product feed** — including affiliate feeds — and those feed products are searched automatically.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Adding your own feed products:** if you've edited the auto-suggested feed candidates and want to attach more, **remove the remaining reserve candidates first.**
{% endhint %}

## Next

* [**Monetization models**](/core-concepts/monetization-models) — where products fit per model.
* [**Generate & publish articles**](/building-a-site/generate-articles) — products are placed as the article is written.

# Use presets

A **Generation Preset** is a reusable set of choices about *how* your articles are written and what's switched on — voice, length, which optional blocks appear, the post status, and SEO automation. Every plan uses one preset.

You don't have to set any of this up: TMN ships with a sensible **default preset**, and most people use it as-is. Create or edit a preset only when you want a specific voice or output.

## What a preset controls

The settings are grouped — you'll rarely touch most of them:

* **Voice & style** — point of view, plus language, tone, reading level, and expertise level.
* **Length & structure** — article length, layout, table of contents, and per-format length overrides.
* **Commercial writing** — how assertive recommendations are, and pros/cons style.
* **Publishing** — the post status generated articles arrive with.
* **Content Egg & media** — toggles for price-comparison blocks, YouTube video embeds, CTA button labels, and the **featured-image source** — an AI-generated image, a stock photo, a product image, or letting the AI decide.
* **Engagement** — optional generated reader comments. See [Reader comments](/building-a-site/comments).
* **SEO automation** — generate meta title, meta description, tags, and schema. See [SEO titles & meta descriptions](/building-a-site/seo-meta).
* **Safety** — hard constraints the writing must follow.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Voice inherits from your plan.** **Language, Tone, Reading level,** and **Expertise** default to *inherit from plan* — you normally set these once in the new-plan wizard (Basics), and the preset follows. Override them in the preset only if you want this preset to differ.
{% endhint %}

## The few worth changing

* **Post status** — the important one. **Publish** (default) makes articles go live immediately; **draft** or **pending** hold them for review. (A future target publish date overrides this and creates the post as *Scheduled* — see [Generate & publish](/building-a-site/generate-articles).)
* **Article length** — overall depth, with per-format overrides if you want (for example, longer reviews).
* **Language / Tone / Point of view** — the article language and writing voice (language and tone inherit from the plan unless you override them here).
* **Optional blocks** — turn price comparison, YouTube video embeds, reader comments, or SEO meta on or off. YouTube embeds require the **YouTube module** enabled in Content Egg.
* **Featured image** — choose where each article's image comes from:

  * **AI decides** (default) — a stock photo for real-world subjects (food, products, places), or a unique **AI-generated** image for abstract topics.
  * **AI-generated image** — always creates an original image from the article topic. Set the **aspect ratio** (wide or square) and a **style** (realistic photo, illustration, or 3D render), and optionally add your own image rules.
  * **Stock photo** — searches your active **Pixabay / Pexels / Unsplash** modules, lets the AI pick the best fit, and avoids repeats across a plan. Enable at least one in Content Egg — all three for the most variety.
  * **Hybrid** — a product image for commercial articles, a stock photo for informational ones.
  * **Content Egg product image** — the first product's image.

  For sharper AI-generated images, use [**your own OpenAI key**](/account-and-licensing/byo-api-key).
* **CTA button labels** — generate contextual labels for Content Egg buttons (for example, "Buy on Amazon"). This is recommended for non-English languages. Disable it to use Content Egg's default button labels.
* **Hard constraints** — guardrails the AI must respect (e.g. conservative affiliate claims, no pricing promises) plus your own custom rules.

## Override for a single article

A preset applies to a whole plan, but any one article can use a different one: open the article's drawer and set **Writing preset** (it defaults to **Inherit from plan**). See [Edit your Topic Map](/building-a-site/edit-topic-map).

## Create and reuse

* **Create:** in the admin sidebar, open **Too Much Niche → Generation Presets** and click **+ New preset**.
* **Set a default:** mark a preset as the default (it shows a **Default** badge), and new plans use it automatically.

![The Generation Preset editor](/files/AOO3T0MGu5MoUn3eWSqJ)

# Pick your model

Pick the playbook that matches how your site makes money:

* [**Affiliate marketing**](/monetization-playbooks/affiliate) — recommend products, earn commission.
* [**E-commerce**](/monetization-playbooks/ecommerce) — sell your own catalog.
* [**Display ads**](/monetization-playbooks/display-ads) — earn from traffic and ad impressions.
* [**Lead generation**](/monetization-playbooks/lead-generation) — turn readers into inquiries.
* [**SaaS & digital products**](/monetization-playbooks/saas-digital) — funnel readers to a trial or checkout.

Not sure which fits? See [**Monetization models**](/core-concepts/monetization-models) to compare them.

# Affiliate marketing

With the **affiliate** model, TMN builds a review site that recommends real products and earns commission. It plans the money pages *and* the supporting content, finds and ranks real products, and places them in your articles with live affiliate links.

## What you need

* **Content Egg Pro** — for automatic product search from affiliate networks. (On Free you'd attach every product by hand.) See [Free vs Pro](/content-egg-integration/free-vs-pro).
* **At least one affiliate-network module** configured in Content Egg — Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Bol.com, BestBuy. See [Set it up](/content-egg-integration/overview#set-it-up).

### Amazon: API vs No API

Amazon has two modules:

* **Amazon API** — uses Amazon's official Creators API. It needs active API access, which Amazon currently keeps tied to making roughly **10 qualifying sales every 30 days**.
* **Amazon No API** — works **without** API access, so you can start building right away.

Both support **all Amazon locales**. Use **No API** if you don't have API access yet, and switch to **API** once you're approved. (On generation, Amazon products are enriched with real user reviews, specs, and other factual data.)

## Create the plan

Create a plan (see [Create a content plan](/building-a-site/create-a-plan)) with **Primary monetization → Affiliate Marketing**, and pick your **Affiliate networks**. That sets the product source TMN searches.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Before you generate,** confirm the module actually returns search results — no API error, and your API access is active.
{% endhint %}

## What TMN plans: the silo

An affiliate plan deliberately mixes two kinds of articles:

* **Money** — includes product blocks with affiliate links.
* **Info** — no product blocks; builds topical authority and links to your money pages.
* **Mixed** — may include product blocks where they're naturally relevant.

The info content does the supporting job: it funnels readers and internal links toward the money pages. **Don't force too many money articles** — a healthy share of info content makes the whole site rank better. Set the balance with the **Info / Money mix** in the wizard.

## Products in your articles

* **Found automatically.** At generation, TMN searches your networks, ranks products by relevance, rating, reviews, and availability, and places them in product blocks with live affiliate links.
* **Prices stay current.** Content Egg keeps prices up to date automatically, so published articles stay accurate.
* **Curate your picks.** On your most important money pages, attach specific products by hand so automatic search can't replace them — see [Curate products](/building-a-site/curate-products).
* **Rich product blocks.** Product cards, comparison tables, pros & cons, and rating breakdowns display real product details for a polished, professional look.

![A generated affiliate article with product cards and a comparison table](/files/9jH8uj1PhUODpowUJXqu)

## Price comparison (optional)

Turn on **price-comparison** blocks in your [Generation Preset](/building-a-site/presets) to add **EAN-based** comparison tables — the same product across several merchants. For these to fill in, enable Content Egg modules that support EAN search:

{% hint style="info" %}
Amazon, Amazon No API, BestBuy, Bol.com, CJ, eBay, Kelkoo, Kieskeurig.nl, Viglink, Tradedoubler, Tradetracker, Walmart, Webgains.
{% endhint %}

# E-commerce

With the **e-commerce** model, TMN builds content around a **product catalog** — buying guides, comparisons, and category explainers that send shoppers to product pages. Products come from a feed: your own store catalog, or an affiliate product feed you want to promote like a catalog.

## Common use cases

Use this model when your content should promote products from a catalog or feed, for example:

* WooCommerce or Shopify stores that want buying guides, comparisons, and category content.
* Stores with large catalogs that need SEO content around product groups.
* Niche content sites that promote products from an affiliate product feed.
* Marketplaces, curated shops, or product databases with a structured feed.

If the article's main job is to send readers to product pages from a feed, choose **E-commerce**.

## What you need

* **Content Egg** with the **Feed module**. The **free** version is enough for e-commerce — choose Pro only if you run more than 3 feeds (see [Free vs Pro](/content-egg-integration/free-vs-pro)).
* **Your catalog as a product feed** — a CSV/XML file or URL from your store. Works with WooCommerce, Shopify, or any platform that can export a feed, **including affiliate product feeds**, which are searched automatically just like your own catalog.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip — earn with an affiliate feed.** E-commerce isn't only for promoting *your own* store. Point the Feed module at an **affiliate** product feed (for example, from AWIN) and you'll earn affiliate commissions — TMN treats it like any other catalog.
{% endhint %}

## Import your catalog

Set up your feed in Content Egg's Feed module once — see [Set up product feeds](/content-egg-integration/product-feeds) for the steps, including the recommendations to **skip product variations** and to **split very large catalogs by category**.

## Create the plan

Create a plan (see [Create a content plan](/building-a-site/create-a-plan)) with **Primary monetization → E-commerce**, and select your feed as the **Product source**. TMN plans the topic map around your product categories, and sends a **snapshot of your catalog** to the planner so it knows what you sell.

## What TMN plans

An e-commerce plan mixes article types by intent:

* **Money** — includes product blocks pulled from your store catalog, linking to your **own product pages** (not a marketplace).
* **Info** — informational content with no product blocks; it drives organic traffic and links to your money pages.
* **Mixed** — may include product blocks where they're naturally relevant.

In practice, money pages are buying guides, comparisons, and "best of" roundups featuring your products; info pages are how-tos and explainers that support them.

## Where the content lives

You have two options:

* **On your store** — publish the content on the same WordPress site as your shop.
* **On separate niche sites** — build one or more content sites (even on other domains) that funnel buyers back to your shop. Useful for targeting niches around your products without touching your main store.

## Products in your articles

Because a feed can be large, it's searched **in your WordPress site**, not on our servers:

* When an article is created, TMN searches your feed and attaches a pool of candidate products.
* At generation, the AI picks the best ones for that article.
* You can **preview and edit** the suggested products before generating.

See [Curate products](/building-a-site/curate-products) for the full flow — including the note about removing reserve candidates before adding your own.

# Display ads

With the **display-ads** model, you earn from **traffic** — ad impressions on networks like AdSense or Mediavine — not from selling products. TMN plans deep, content-first sites built to attract and hold readers.

## What you need

* **Content Egg** (free is enough — it formats the article blocks with EggBlocks).
* **An ad network** (AdSense, Mediavine, Ezoic, …), configured on your side.

## Create the plan

Create a plan (see [Create a content plan](/building-a-site/create-a-plan)) with **Primary monetization → Display Ads**. There are no products to connect — TMN plans content-first.

## What TMN plans

A display plan leans toward informational topics that pull traffic. Here the article intent is about **ad value**, not products:

* **Money** — commercially framed content optimized for high-value ad placements.
* **Info** — informational content optimized for ad impressions.
* **Mixed** — balanced content with mixed ad-placement opportunities.

Expect deep hubs of how-tos, explainers, and listicles, structured for dwell time and internal clicks.

## Product roundups without an affiliate account

You can still run product formats — "best of" roundups, comparisons — to target high-traffic product keywords, without joining any affiliate program. TMN **synthesizes representative products** for those articles:

* Synthesized products are stored in Content Egg's **Offer module** (it's activated automatically if it isn't already).
* The generator validates each AI-suggested product URL and may drop ones that don't resolve, while keeping the product itself.
* **Review the synthesized products and add any missing links** before publishing.

![Synthesized products in an article, ready to review](/files/jW7BS4tIIrlxDFt67CQc)

## Showing ads

TMN doesn't insert fixed ad slots into your articles. The simplest way to monetize is **AdSense Auto ads** (or your network's equivalent), which place ads into the content automatically — and the content is structured to work well with them.

## Tips

* **Lean info-heavy.** Display revenue follows traffic, so weight the **Info / Money mix** toward info for a bigger, faster-growing site.
* **Check the links.** Review synthesized products and fill in any missing links before you publish.

# Lead generation

With the **lead-generation** model, TMN builds a site for a **service business** — any business that wants inquiries, local or national. Instead of products, articles drive readers to contact you, using conversion blocks filled from your [**Business Profile**](/core-concepts/profiles).

## Common use cases

Use this model when your site should turn visitors into inquiries, bookings, or calls, for example:

* Local services — plumbers, dentists, contractors, clinics, repair companies.
* Professional services — consultants, agencies, accountants, lawyers.
* National or niche service businesses — B2B providers, specialist contractors, remote services.
* Lead-gen sites that send inquiries to your own business or sales team.

If the article's main job is to make the reader contact you, choose **Lead Generation**.

## What you need

* **Content Egg** (free is enough — it renders the article blocks).
* A **Business Profile** describing your business — see [Profiles](/core-concepts/profiles) for what it holds and the AI fill-in flow.

## Set up your Business Profile

Create the profile first: **Too Much Niche → Business Profiles → + New profile**. Use the **AI fill-in** panel to populate it (Copy schema → paste into ChatGPT/Claude → Paste from schema), then review every field. It holds your **contact and CTA links, services, pricing, testimonials, and trust signals**. Set it as the **default** to auto-link it to new lead-gen plans. Full walkthrough: [Profiles](/core-concepts/profiles).

## Create the plan

Create a plan (see [Create a content plan](/building-a-site/create-a-plan)) with **Primary monetization → Lead Generation**, and link your Business Profile.

## What TMN plans

A lead-gen plan mixes article types by intent:

* **Money** — will include contact CTAs, booking prompts, offers, and trust blocks.
* **Info** — informational content with no lead capture; builds trust and awareness, and links to your money pages.
* **Mixed** — may include lead-capture blocks where naturally relevant.

The info content does the supporting job: it brings in traffic and funnels readers toward the money pages.

## How leads are captured

On money pages, TMN places conversion blocks filled from your profile:

* **CTA** — drives the action; links to your own **website, landing page, booking, or contact-form URL**. (TMN doesn't host a form — the CTA points to your channels.)
* **Pricing** — your rates, when you've set them.
* **Testimonials & trust signals** — your reviews, guarantees, ratings, and certifications.

Two things worth knowing:

* **Live data.** Update the profile (say, a new phone number) and published articles reflect it automatically — no re-editing posts.
* **Brand-neutral prose.** Your business name appears in the conversion blocks, not the editorial text, so the writing stays neutral.

![A generated lead-gen article with CTA and trust blocks](/files/fbR3IYYH8V9Ws0qn2DeR)

## Tips

* **Product blocks are optional here too** — TMN can synthesize products for a roundup or comparison where it fits, but your monetization runs through the profile's CTAs.
* **Targeting several cities or areas?** TMN doesn't auto-generate location pages, so run a **separate plan (or site) per area**.

## Next

# SaaS & digital products

With the **SaaS / Digital Products** model, TMN builds a content ecosystem around the problem your product solves — then funnels the right readers toward your trial, signup, demo, checkout, or sales page. Articles draw on your [**Offer Profile**](/core-concepts/profiles), and monetization runs through CTAs, pricing, and social proof.

This model suits software, online courses, memberships, template packs, API tools, and other digital offers.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98vjaamtJHw>" %}

## Why build a niche site for your product?

A landing page explains your product. A niche site explains the market around it: the problems, alternatives, use cases, comparisons, and buying questions your customers search for. This gives search engines and AI assistants more context to understand when your product is relevant.

## Common use cases

Use this model when your content should send readers to a trial, signup, demo, checkout, or sales page, for example:

* SaaS products and web apps.
* WordPress plugins, API tools, and developer products.
* Online courses, memberships, templates, and downloadable products.
* Digital services with a productized offer, pricing page, or checkout flow.

If the article's main job is to sell or promote your own digital offer, choose **SaaS / Digital Products**.

## What you need

* **Content Egg** (free is enough — it renders the article blocks).
* An **Offer Profile** describing your product — see [Profiles](/core-concepts/profiles) for what it holds and the AI fill-in flow.

## Set up your Offer Profile

Create it first: **Too Much Niche → Offer Profiles → + New profile**. Use the **AI fill-in** panel (Copy schema → paste into ChatGPT/Claude → Paste from schema), then review every field. It holds your **positioning, pricing & plans, features, conversion URLs** (signup / trial / demo / checkout), and **testimonials**. Set it as the **default** to auto-link it to new plans. Full walkthrough: [Profiles](/core-concepts/profiles).

## Create the plan

Create a plan (see [Create a content plan](/building-a-site/create-a-plan)) with **Primary monetization → SaaS / Digital Products**, and link your Offer Profile. TMN plans topics around the problem your product solves.

## What TMN plans

A SaaS plan mixes article types by intent:

* **Money** — will include product CTAs, pricing tables, or buy buttons.
* **Info** — informational content with no sales blocks; drives awareness, and links to your money pages.
* **Mixed** — may include sales blocks where naturally relevant.

Money pages are often comparison, "alternatives," and use-case content; info pages are problem-solving how-tos that bring in traffic.

## Comparison & "alternatives" content

Bottom-of-funnel comparisons — "X vs Y," "best X alternatives" — are some of the highest-intent traffic in SaaS. TMN can target them, with one important detail:

* The compared products are **AI-synthesized** (stored in Content Egg's Offer module), so you don't need them in any catalog.
* **Your offer isn't a row in the comparison** — it's presented *alongside* it through your CTA and pricing blocks.

So you rank for the comparison and pitch your product as the answer, without faking a head-to-head win.

## How it converts

On money pages, TMN places conversion blocks filled from your Offer Profile:

* **CTA** — "Start free trial," "Get instant access," and the like, linking to your signup / trial / demo / checkout URL.
* **Pricing / plan comparison** — your plans and prices.
* **Social proof** — testimonials from your profile.

**Live data:** update the Offer Profile and published articles reflect it automatically — no re-editing posts.

# Why TMN needs Content Egg

Too Much Niche requires the **Content Egg** plugin — installed, active, and up to date alongside it. It isn't optional: Content Egg renders the building blocks of every article and supplies the product data TMN works with.

## What Content Egg does for TMN

* **Renders the blocks.** Every article is assembled from **EggBlocks** — product cards, comparison tables, CTAs, pricing, and the rest. Content Egg turns those blocks into what readers see, and keeps their product and profile data **live at view time** (so prices, links, and contact details stay correct after publishing).
* **Supplies product data.** Its modules find and store products: **affiliate-network search** (Amazon, Walmart, eBay, …), the **Feed module** for your own catalog, and the **Offer module** that holds AI-synthesized products for non-affiliate models.

## Free or Pro?

The **free** version is enough for most models. **Affiliate** product search needs **Content Egg Pro**, and **e-commerce** uses the **Feed module** (included in both Free and Pro). See [Free vs Pro](/content-egg-integration/free-vs-pro) for the details.

## Set it up

1. **Install the latest Content Egg** alongside TMN — both install the same way; see [Requirements & installation](/getting-started/installation).
2. **Enable the modules for your model:**
   * **Affiliate** — turn on and configure the affiliate-network modules you'll use (Amazon, Walmart, eBay, …) in Content Egg's settings. These power automatic product search and need **Content Egg Pro** with an active Content Egg license. Configuring a module — for example, entering Amazon credentials — is done inside Content Egg; see the [Content Egg docs](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/).
   * **E-commerce** — set up the **Feed module** with your catalog; see [Set up product feeds](/content-egg-integration/product-feeds).
   * **Lead generation, SaaS, display** — nothing to configure; the free blocks are all you need.
   * **Featured images** — enable one or more **stock-photo modules** (**Pixabay**, **Pexels**, **Unsplash**) in Content Egg, then set *Featured image source → Stock photo* in your Generation Preset. TMN searches every active module, lets the AI pick the image that best fits each article, and avoids repeats across a plan. **Activating all three gives the best, most varied results.**
3. **Confirm TMN sees it.** Configured modules appear in the plan wizard as **Affiliate networks**, and on a plan as its **Product source**.

## Bundle

You can get Too Much Niche and Content Egg Pro together as a money-saving 2-in-1 bundle — see the [TMN + Content Egg bundle](https://www.keywordrush.com/bundles?cycle=year#tmn-ce-starter).

## Which version do you need?

* **Affiliate** — **Pro**, for automatic product search. You *can* build affiliate articles on Free, but you'll attach each product by hand.
* **E-commerce** — **Free** is enough; choose **Pro** only if you run more than **3** product feeds.
* **Display, lead generation, SaaS** — **Free** is enough.

## Bundle

For affiliate or larger e-commerce sites, the discounted 2-in-1 bundle pairs Too Much Niche with Content Egg Pro — see the [TMN + Content Egg bundle](https://www.keywordrush.com/bundles?cycle=year#tmn-ce-starter).

# Set up product feeds

For the **e-commerce** model, TMN builds content around your own catalog. Your catalog reaches TMN through Content Egg's **Feed module**: you import a product feed once, then point your plan at it.

## Import your catalog

Content Egg's Feed module imports your products from a **product feed** — a CSV or XML file or URL you generate from your store. Most platforms (WooCommerce, Shopify, and others) can export one.

You set this up inside Content Egg — see the Content Egg docs: [Feed modules — general information](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/modules/feed-modules/general-information) and [field mapping](https://ce-docs.keywordrush.com/modules/feed-modules/field-mapping).

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Skip product variations.** Generate the feed *without* variations, or enable **"Skip product variations during import"** in the feed module — otherwise the same product can appear several times (visual duplicates) in your articles.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Large catalog?** Split a very large feed into **separate feed modules by product category**, and create a **separate plan per category**. Smaller, focused plans rank better — see [Create a content plan](/building-a-site/create-a-plan).
{% endhint %}

## Use the feed in a plan

When you create an e-commerce plan, select your feed as the **Product source** (in the new-plan wizard, or later on the plan). TMN then:

* sends a **snapshot of your catalog** to the planner, so it understands what you sell while building the Topic Map, and
* searches your feed **locally** for each product article and attaches matching products — see [Curate products](/building-a-site/curate-products) for how candidates are chosen and how to preview or edit them.

# Plans & limits

Too Much Niche comes in three tiers — **Starter, Growth, and Agency** — each raising the limits below. For current prices and exact numbers, see the [**pricing page**](https://www.keywordrush.com/toomuchniche/pricing).

## What's metered

Your tier sets how much you can do:

* **Sites** — how many WordPress sites you can activate the license on.
* **Content plans per month** — how many Topic Maps you can generate.
* **Articles per month** — how many articles you can generate.
* **Concurrency** — how many articles generate **in parallel** at once; the rest queue and start automatically.

## Credits

Each generated article uses **one article credit** from your monthly allowance. With **your own API key**, an article costs **½ credit** — doubling how many you can generate. See [Bring your own API key](/account-and-licensing/byo-api-key).

## Usage

Check your usage anytime on the **License** page — *"X used · Y remaining."* To compare tiers, see the [**pricing page**](https://www.keywordrush.com/toomuchniche/pricing).

## Next

* [**Bring your own API key**](/account-and-licensing/byo-api-key) — double your limit with your own key.
* [**Manage your license**](/account-and-licensing/manage-license) — activate, deactivate, or move it between sites.

# Manage your license

Everything about your license lives on **Too Much Niche → License**. This page covers managing it *after* the first activation — checking status, moving it between sites, freeing a slot, and what happens if your subscription lapses. (For first-time setup, see [Activate your license](/getting-started/activate-license).)

## Check your license

The **License** page shows your **plan**, **status**, **renewal date**, and the **site** this license is activated on. This information is fetched live from KeywordRush, and you can refresh it there.

## Move the license to another site

Your license activates on a limited number of sites (set by your tier). To move it:

1. On the **current** site, open **Too Much Niche → License** and click **Deactivate**.
2. On the **new** site, enter the same key and **Activate** (see [Activate your license](/getting-started/activate-license)).

## Site limit reached

If the key is already active on the maximum number of sites, activation is blocked. **Free a slot by deactivating an old site** — from that site's License page, or from your account at [keywordrush.com](https://www.keywordrush.com/panel) — then activate the new one.

## If your license is suspended

If your subscription ends, new generation is paused — you can't create new plans or articles until it's active again. **Everything you've already created stays safe:** your published articles, products, and blocks keep working on your site.

![The License status with the Deactivate action](/files/bSnc7CadgzIEGHDjghvN)

## Next

* [**Activate your license**](/getting-started/activate-license) — first-time setup.
* [**Plans & limits**](/account-and-licensing/plans-and-limits) — what each tier includes.

# Bring your own API key

**This is completely optional.** By default, Too Much Niche generates everything with its own managed AI (**Too Much Niche AI**) — no API key, and the AI costs are fully covered by your subscription. You only need this page if you want to generate with **your own OpenAI or Claude key** — to choose a different quality-and-cost balance for your text, or higher-quality **AI featured images**.

{% hint style="info" %}
Bringing your own key is available on the **Growth** and **Agency** tiers.
{% endhint %}

## Why bring your own key?

* **Your choice of quality** — from **Balanced** (fast, low-cost) up to **Advanced** and **Premium** frontier-grade models.
* **More articles** — every article generated with your key costs **½ credit**, whatever quality you pick, so your monthly allowance goes twice as far.

## You choose a quality, not a model

In **AI Settings** you pick a provider and a **quality level** — not a specific model:

* **Balanced** — a faster, lower-cost model for high-volume publishing at the lowest provider cost.
* **Advanced** — a stronger writing model; recommended for most plans and articles.
* **Premium** — a frontier-grade model for every plan and article (highest provider cost).

Behind each level, TMN uses the latest models from your chosen provider with an optimal mix of model and reasoning effort — the best quality without wasting tokens.

## Also for featured images

Your **OpenAI key** can also generate higher-quality **AI featured images** at **Advanced** or **Premium** quality. It's set separately from your writing model, so you can keep managed AI (or Claude) for text and use OpenAI just for images. Image generation is billed to your OpenAI account and doesn't use credits. (Choose where each article's image comes from in your [**preset**](/building-a-site/presets).)

## You pay your provider directly

With your own key, your AI usage is billed by **OpenAI or Anthropic directly**, at their rates. TMN doesn't charge for it — the ½-credit cost is simply how it counts against your monthly limit.

## Security

Your API key is stored **encrypted** in WordPress. It's sent securely to the Too Much Niche server **only while a generation job is running**, and the server **purges it the moment the job completes**.

## Set it up

Open **Too Much Niche → AI Settings**, which has two parts:

1. **Plans & articles** — choose *Too Much Niche AI* (default), *My OpenAI API key*, or *My Claude API key*, then pick a **quality** (Balanced, Advanced, or Premium).
2. **Featured images** — choose *Too Much Niche AI* (default) or *My OpenAI key*, then pick an **image quality**.
3. **Paste your API key** when prompted — create one in the [OpenAI dashboard](https://platform.openai.com/api-keys) or the [Anthropic Console](https://console.anthropic.com/settings/keys). TMN validates it with the provider and stores it encrypted. The same key is shared by both sections, so you only enter it once.

New plans, articles, and images then use your key.

# Article formats

A **format** is the kind of article — a review, a how-to, a comparison, and so on. It's a genre *guideline*, not a rigid template: within a format, the AI decides the exact outline and which blocks to use. You set a format per article in the node drawer, or leave the plan's **Allowed formats** empty so TMN picks the best one for each topic.

Formats fall into two groups, which differ in *when* products are resolved.

## Product-first formats

The article is built around products, so products are found **before** the outline is written.

| Format | Typical intent | What it is |
| ---------------- | -------------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| **Review**       | Money          | In-depth review of a single product.          |
| **Comparison**   | Money          | Side-by-side comparison of 2–3 products.      |
| **Roundup**      | Money          | A curated "best of" list for a category.      |
| **Alternatives** | Money / Mixed | Alternatives to a named product or service. |
| **Gift Guide** | Money | Curated gift picks for an occasion or person. |

## Content-first formats

The content comes first; where product slots fit, they're filled afterward with products relevant to that section.

| Format | Typical intent | What it is |
| -------------------- | -------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| **Buying Guide** | Mixed | What to look for, plus curated picks. |
| **How-To**           | Info           | Step-by-step instructions.                |
| **Troubleshooting**  | Info           | Diagnose and fix a problem.               |
| **Maintenance** | Info | Care and upkeep guide. |
| **Beginner Guide** | Info | Foundational introduction for newcomers. |
| **Explainer**        | Info           | "What is X" — a concept explanation.      |
| **Problem–Solution** | Info / Mixed   | Identify a problem and an actionable fix. |
| **FAQ**              | Info           | Question-and-answer format.               |
| **Case Study**       | Info / Mixed   | A real-world scenario and its outcome.    |
| **Myths vs Facts**   | Info           | Myth-debunking format.                    |
| **Brand Overview**   | Mixed          | A brand's history, range, and reputation. |

See [Blocks & formats](/core-concepts/blocks-and-formats) for how formats and blocks work together.

# Supported languages

Too Much Niche can generate plans and articles in the languages below. English is the default.

Choose the language in the new-plan wizard under **Basics → Language**. The setting applies to the plan and is inherited by generated articles unless you override it in a Generation Preset.

To change the article generation language later, open **Too Much Niche → Generation Presets**, edit the preset, and set **Voice & style → Language**. The default is **Auto (from plan)**.

# Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for the most common issues. Still stuck after this? [Contact us](https://www.keywordrush.com/contact).

## An article didn't appear, or its status didn't update

Finished articles are pulled into WordPress automatically — you don't need to keep any page open. If one hasn't shown up, **reload the Content Queue** to refresh the list. See [Generate & publish](/building-a-site/generate-articles).

## Articles are stuck at "Queued"

**Queued** means an article is waiting to be sent for generation. That handover runs on WordPress's built-in scheduler (WP-Cron), which only wakes up when someone visits your site — so on a brand-new site with no traffic, queued articles can sit there.

* **Quick check:** open any page of your site, or the WordPress admin, and give it a minute. That's usually enough to get things moving.
* **Proper fix:** set up a real cron job, running **every minute**. This keeps generation moving no matter how quiet the site is, and is worth doing before queueing a large batch.

**Run it every minute — not every 10 or 15.** TMN sends a batch of queued articles each time the scheduler runs, so the interval sets the pace: every minute clears a few hundred articles in under an hour, while every 15 minutes stretches the same batch across most of a day. It also decides how quickly finished articles appear in WordPress.

Most hosts have a **Cron jobs** panel. Add this, set to run every minute (`* * * * *`), replacing the domain with your own:

```
wget -q -O - https://example.com/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron >/dev/null 2>&1
```

Then switch off the built-in scheduler by adding this to `wp-config.php`, above the "That's all, stop editing!" line:

```php
define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', true);
```

Do both, in that order — disabling the built-in scheduler without a real cron in place stops background work altogether. If you're unsure, your host's support can set this up for you; it's a routine request.

TMN shows a warning on the Content Queue when it detects that the scheduler isn't running.

## Autopilot isn't generating anything

Check these in order on **Too Much Niche → Autopilot** — the panel at the top usually says which one applies.

* **It's switched off.** The switch at the top of the page.
* **You've used your articles for the month.** Autopilot waits and starts again on its own when your allowance resets. The panel shows the date.
* **It stopped after repeated failures.** Five failures in a row pause it, and it emails you. Fix what the error describes, then press **Resume**.
* **The plan isn't included.** Check the **Plans** list and make sure the plan is ticked.
* **The articles aren't ready.** Affiliate and e-commerce money articles need a product source before anything can be written — see [Curate products](/building-a-site/curate-products).
* **Background tasks aren't running.** See "Articles are stuck at Queued" above. Autopilot shows a warning when it detects this, and it's the most common cause on a brand-new or low-traffic site.

## A plan is still "generating"

Unlike articles, **plan building needs the page open**. Keep the plan's **details page** in front of you while it builds — planning takes a few minutes. If you closed it, reopen the plan from **Content Plans** to let it finish loading.

## Generation failed

* **Read the error message first** — it usually says exactly what went wrong (for example, no relevant products found). Fix the cause before retrying.
* Click **Retry**. After three failed attempts the button becomes **Edit to Retry** — open the article, adjust it, and try again.
* For **affiliate / e-commerce** money articles, **Generate** stays disabled until the article has a **product source**. Set one on the plan, or attach products — see [Curate products](/building-a-site/curate-products).

## Blocks don't render

Content Egg must be **installed, active, and up to date** alongside TMN — it renders the article blocks. If you're using Content Egg Pro, make sure its license is active too. See [Why TMN needs Content Egg](/content-egg-integration/overview).

## A pillar article's internal links are missing

Almost always because the articles it links to **haven't been generated yet**. The links are already in the pillar: contextual `[nodelink]` links stay plain text until their target exists, and Related Posts blocks list only articles that are published or scheduled.

**Generate the rest of the hub and the links activate on their own** — one at a time, as each supporting article goes live. Don't regenerate the pillar: it spends a credit and still can't link to an article that doesn't exist yet.

In a large hub (more than about twelve articles) a pillar links to most of its children rather than every one — that part is by design. See [Interlinking](/core-concepts/interlinking).

## You've hit your monthly limit

Each article uses one credit (½ with your own API key). If you've used your monthly **articles** or **content plans**, they reset next cycle — or connect your own API key to stretch further. See [Plans & limits](/account-and-licensing/plans-and-limits) and [Bring your own API key](/account-and-licensing/byo-api-key).

## Can't connect to the license server

TMN reaches our servers over your site's outbound connection. If activation or generation can't connect, check that your host allows **outbound HTTPS requests**, then try again. See [Activate your license](/getting-started/activate-license).
